Torie and Howard Organic Hard Candy

One of my favorite memories as a child was visiting my great grandmother Helen. She always had different tins of hard fruit candy. The candy sat atop the table on a lace doily with my great grandmas tea cup. I could barely reach the candy but made sure I tried one of every flavor before I left. When my grandmother finished the tins she would give them to me and I would fill them with little treasures. When I first saw Torie & Howard candy at the store it immediately took me back to that special memory. Being a lover of pomegrante I chose their Pomegranate & Nectarine tin. It was the most delicious candy I have ever had. I loved it so much I put it in my favorite monthly things video. I couldn't believe this piece of candy was so packed with flavor. Just like when I was little I was on a mission to try all the flavors now. At that time there were four flavors available the Pomegranate & Nectarine, D'anjou Pear & Cinnamon, Blood Orange & Honey and Pink Grapefruit & Tupelo Honey.  They are all delicious and packed with flavor and at only 12 calories a piece you can enjoy them guilt free. That's just the beginning why these candies are so special; they are USDA organic, gluten free, wheat free, casein free, soy free, dairy free, no artificial dyes, no nuts, no GMO's, no corn syrup and did I mention they are Delicious! When Torie & Howard announced their new flavor Meyer Lemon & Raspberry it was like Christmas came early! The new flavor did not disappoint filled with the sweet taste of lemon and raspberry. Am I allowed to have five favorites?! While my little girls and I are devouring this tin of candy, I wonder what other yummy flavors they have in store for the future.  Perhaps apple, peach, blueberry, strawberry or banana. Whatever they decide to make I'm on board. These are the most scrumptious candies you will ever try. You can order them online here at Torie & Howard website or use their store locator for your closest shop that carries them.

Katniss from the Hunger Games

We did a little dry run for Halloween. My oldest daughter is obsessed with the Hunger Games and wanted to be Katniss. Just wanted to share some of the photos. I might do a makeup tutorial later :)

Daryl Dixon's Jacket The Walking Dead

My whole house loves AMC's The Walking Dead. One of our favorite characters is Daryl. My daughter begged me to be him for Halloween. (Halloween is a BIG deal in our house.)  So here is a quick and inexpensive DIY for Daryl's coat. The upper left picture is Daryl in his jacket on The Walking Dead. The bottom right is my daughter strutting her new coat!
Daryl's coat on the show is leather but I opted for a jean coat from the second hand store. I also picked a heavier coat due to the cold weather here at Halloween time. This great find only cost me $5.00. You can use any coat or a button up shirt. Since you will be cutting and painting it, keep it inexpensive. :)
At this point I have just removed the sleeves with fabric scissors.  I used a Sharpie to sketch the wings on. If you feel more comfortable use a pencil first and then trace with Sharpie. I did this quickly and don't worry about it being perfect because his coat is rough looking.
The only other thing I bought was white fabric paint. The cost was only $2.00 from the craft store.  I just filled in my previous drawn lines but not covering them. Daryl's coat shows black stitching and has the same look. The fabric paint dries really fast and you only need a small amount of it. Make sure you DON'T buy the puffy 3D paint!
The finished product. For only $7.00! Now to make one for me :)

The Many Uses Of Ivory

I received a Mom Vox Box a couple weeks ago from Influenster. You can check out my original post here. In this great box of goodies I received a bar of Ivory soap, complimentary for testing purposes. This item probably took the longest to test for I had to wait and see the results of using the soap. Between my husband, two daughters, and myself one of us is always allergic to something! I'm happy to say none of that applied here. We all loved the scent of it and how soft it made our skin. Sometimes I think we forget about going back to the basics. I will continue using this in our home it works great and is one of the few reasonable things left to buy. In general bars of soap go in our shower and at the sink but my daughter showed me it makes the best bubbles. I guess I can't be mad at her for washing her hands haha!

Update: We won the Ivory Vox Box challenge with this picture and received a big box of goodies from Ivory. Thank you Ivory and Influenster.
